On other horizons, Hulburt is a successful author. “I've had three Amazon Best Sellers, that have been on Amazon Best Sellers for over a year,” says Hurlburt. “It’s because of my schoolteachers that I can make such a claim!” https://www.amazon.ca/Irish-Roots-Potatoes-Recipes-Folklore/dp/1090627572/ref=as_li_ss_tl?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1593480202&sr=8-2&linkCode=sl1&tag=brianhurlburt-20&linkId=0b6e67b78320d1452a67d1a0f5a40b99&language=en_CA&fbclid=IwAR32io3aVpTLDLV8Q8MoVWyBV6NVzDNhJHBCYfwrYe5JusDlhQ8sZxybliw

Hurlburt has completely immersed himself in lifelong passions, which, in addition to writing, storytelling, and representing the well-known Watkins company, includes traveling and connecting with friends. “I’ve traveled to all of the Canadian Provinces, and 38 wonderful States. Well, okay; 37 and Kansas!
I cannot say I really enjoyed Kansas, perhaps because I did not really get to explore it; just drive through it, for the most part.
I flew down to Massachusetts and joined up with a van load of would-be friends, and we traveled west to spend a month training in music, puppetry, and drama in Colorado Springs.
So, heading west, we come to Kansas. We drove to the horizon at least five times, then it got dark, and we drove through the night, at about 2:00 am the car ahead of us hit a cow in the middle of the road.
Then when it come daylight, we drove to the horizon again, at least two or three times, before entering Colorado!
Now, not to milk this thing, but you must understand that Kansas is flat! There seems to be no other way to describe it! It is just flat!
You might say the same of my experience there...it was just flat! Yes, the whole experience in Kansas was flat!”
Many of Hurlburt’s travel experiences have been the result of earned rewards through Watkins.
“Beyond Canada and the US, I have also stood on the soils of France and of the Dutch, and I did that all on one day,” says Hurlburt.
Also, St. Martin/Sint Maarten in the Caribbean through an all-inclusive vacation opportunity made possible by Watkins! We've also traveled to Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and Los Cabo San Lucas, in Mexico, also all-inclusive trips earned through Watkins!” Says Hurlburt, “I discovered my favorite place on earth, other than Nova Scotia of course, on another vacation earned through Watkins, and that was to Costa Rica.”
Hurlburt is a lifelong learner. “I am thankful for having teachers who instilled a sense of learning that has lasted a lifetime! I love to learn, to explore, to pretend, and to write.”
Since the age of nine, Hurlburt has believed in a higher power. “I became a Christian at the age of nine. While I have often strayed, Jesus has often carried me, but never forsaken me. That is precious, and something I will always cherish in my heart of hearts.
Today, my views, beliefs, and philosophy have broadened, and while being a Christian is paramount, and held sacred, I also embrace Native and Druid Spiritualism, and in a way I believe incorporates all life. Often we try to describe our philosophy, which for me is more of a belief structure in Human, Mortal, ways, which limits us! I believe we are immortal, in that we will live forever, in one form or another, in one place or another, or perhaps everywhere at once.
I believe it is crucial that everyone has a higher power, someone we can thank when we're happy, someone to turn to when we're blue, and someone to spend eternity with when we're through.”
Hurburt feels that a sense of humor is vital for survival, and like life, embraces death as it comes.
“Learn to laugh at yourself. A sense of humor, no matter how dry, is essential. I would be happy to die tomorrow. However, I am not in any hurry. Death holds no victory over me, and it is not something I fear if I do not have to suffer. Yet, life is meant to be lived! I have put a lot of living into my years and hope to still put a lot of years into my life.”

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and pray God sees us through as He's promised to do.”
